Prof. Yonghui Deng – Academic Profile
Prof. Yonghui Deng is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Chemistry at Fudan University. He has long been dedicated to the synthesis and application of functional porous materials, with particular expertise in the creation of mesoscale metal oxide semiconductor gas-sensing materials and the development of gas sensors, having conducted over a decade of systematic interdisciplinary research in this field. He actively promotes the bridging of fundamental research and industrial applications, committed to translating laboratory achievements into practical products on the production line.

Education and Professional Experience
- 2000 – B.Sc. in Chemistry, Nanchang University
- 2000.09 – 2005.07 – M.Sc. and Ph.D. (combined program), Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University
- 2005.07 – 2005.09 – R&D Chemist, Ciba Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai)
- 2005.09 – 2007 – Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Group of Prof. Dongyuan Zhao, Fudan University
- 2007 – Present – Faculty Member, Department of Chemistry, Fudan University
- 2009.12 – 2010.12 – Visiting Scholar, Research Group of Prof. Peidong Yang, University of California, Berkeley

Major Research Achievements
1. Colloidal Interfacial Assembly Method
Proposed a novel colloidal interfacial assembly strategy for fabricating core-shell functional mesoporous colloidal microspheres, including magnetic mesoporous microspheres. This method has been successfully scaled up for industrial production of micro-mesoporous molecular sieve catalytic materials, with patent transfers exceeding 30 million RMB.
2. Advanced Synthesis Strategies
Developed ligand-assisted cooperative co-assembly and residual carbon-supported framework crystallization approaches, leading to over 20 types of crystalline mesoporous metal oxide semiconductors with ultra-high specific surface areas and outstanding gas-sensing performance. Based on these materials, he has developed multiple ultra-sensitive gas sensor prototypes and intelligent electronic nose systems for applications in early disease warning and environmental monitoring.
